In Sydney, private car parks are located throughout the city, though they can be extremely expensive, costing up to A$70 for a day in the city centre during the week. Street parking may be available but can be difficult to find in the CBD. Parking meters and free spaces are more common outside of the city centre. Sydney's public transportation is excellent, so it is often easier to use buses, trains and trams while travelling within the city.
There are no tolls in the Newcastle region, though it is common in Australia to have tag accounts for tolls. If you're only using the toll roads occasionally, there are options to purchase a pass without opening an account. The New South Wales government advises contacting the appropriate toll payment providers to make arrangements. Approximate toll costs run between $6-15, depending on the trip. For more information visit the NSW Roads and Maritime Services website.
